The Kentucky Department of Agriculture (KDA) will host a Kentucky Hemp Summit on December 4, 2019 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET.
“The Kentucky Hemp Summit comes at an important time for the industry,” Commissioner Quarles said. “Though we’ve experienced rapid growth these last few years, we are still in the infancy of restoring this crop. Challenges persist, ranging from federal uncertainty regarding cannabinol to banking and lending issues. It is important that all involved are clear-eyed about the opportunities and challenges ahead and this Summit presents an opportunity for everyone interested to learn together.”
The event is designed to provide applicants, growers, and processors an opportunity to learn more about hemp production, the hemp industry, Kentucky’s 2020 licensing program, and the new online application process. In addition to educational sessions, the Summit will feature a tradeshow. Click here to download the event flyer.
This year's agenda focuses on the growth of the hemp industry and the challenges in the current market. Topics discussed will include such as obtaining a license, growing the crop, and challenges this new industry faces as we transition from a research phase to full commercial production.
Networking with the Summit experts, industry leaders, tradeshow vendors and speakers will prove to be invaluable.
