Quarles Salutes Appointments to Kentucky FSA Panel
Furches Named to Chair State Committee That Serves as Kentucky Farmers' Liaison With USDA
FRANKFORT (January 11, 2018) — Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles today praised U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue on his appointments to the Kentucky Farm Service Agency (FSA) Committee.
“Secretary Perdue has selected five outstanding Kentuckians to our state committee,” Commissioner Quarles said. “These appointees will serve Kentucky’s producers well as their liaison with Washington, ensuring that FSA’s programs serve their needs on the farm. We look forward to working with them to support Kentucky’s hard-working farmers.”
Secretary Perdue’s appointees to the Kentucky State FSA Committee are:
- Sharon Furches, Calloway County (chair);
- Tom Flowers, Shelby County;
- Kenny Imel, Greenup County;
- Brenda Paul, Bourbon County; and
- Bart Peters, Trigg County
The state committees are selected by the Secretary, serve at the pleasure of the Secretary, and are responsible for carrying out FSA's farm programs within delegated authorities.
