FRANKFORT, Ky. — Agriculture Commissioner James Comer will visit Caudill Seed in Louisville on June 7 to tour the plant and meet with company officials.

“Caudill Seed is a great Kentucky Proud business,” Commissioner Comer said. “It also is a major Kentucky employer with four operations in the Commonwealth. We felt Caudill Seed’s culture of innovation, excellence, and dedication to Kentucky made it more than worthy of a Kentucky Proud Partner in Excellence Award. I’m looking forward to seeing their Louisville plant and talking to them about how the state can help them do even better.”

Commissioner Comer is scheduled to arrive at 3 p.m. EDT.

Caudill Seed was one of 10 recipients of the inaugural Kentucky Proud Partner in Excellence Awards in March. The awards were presented “in recognition of the recipients’ commitment to the growth and sustainability of agriculture in the Commonwealth,” said Jennifer Mueller, director of business development for the Kentucky Proud program.

Caudill Seed is a family-owned and -operated seed and supply distributor that primarily serves the agricultural, turf seed, contractor supply, and reclamation industries. Founded by Forrest Caudill in 1947, Caudill Seed today is headed by brothers Dan and Pat Caudill and is celebrating its 65th anniversary in 2012. The Louisville-based business has operations in Allen, Morehead, and Winchester, Ky., and Granite, Okla. Caudill Seed employs 180 people.
