Commissioner Comer to join in celebration of improvements at Shelby County Fairgrounds

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Agriculture Commissioner James Comer will join state and local officials to celebrate completed and upcoming improvements to the Shelby County Fairgrounds in a ceremony during the Shelby County Fair and Horse Show June 23 at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

“These improvements will serve the citizens of Shelby County during the fair and for other events throughout the year,” Commissioner Comer said. “The Kentucky Department of Agriculture will provide funding that will make this project a reality. I’m pleased that we could help upgrade this facility.”

Grandstand seating will be restored and refurbished, and electrical and plumbing facilities in Floral Hall will be upgraded. A new rest room facility already has been built.

“Kentucky’s fairgrounds have for many years served as a showcase for our Commonwealth’s outstanding agricultural industry,” said state Rep. Brad Montell (R-Shelbyville). “I appreciate the continued support of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and Commissioner Comer, and applaud the upgrades to our fairgrounds and its impact on Shelby County’s farming community.”

The Kentucky Department of Agriculture provides support for more than 100 local agricultural fairs in Kentucky as well as district, state, and national livestock shows and sales.
