FRANKFORT, Ky. — Agriculture Commissioner James Comer is scheduled to speak at a public forum hosted by U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie on Sept. 27 in Philpot in Daviess County.

The Western Kentucky Agriculture Awareness Forum will be from 8-10 a.m. CDT at the Daviess County Lions Club Fairgrounds.

"Like Congressman Guthrie, I think it's important to get away from Frankfort and Washington and meet the citizens of Kentucky where they live," Commissioner Comer said. "Kentucky farmers are facing numerous challenges such as the drought, the rising costs of farm inputs, and uncertainty regarding the Farm Bill. I am looking forward to meeting with western Kentucky farmers and listening to their concerns."

"I am really looking forward to being in Daviess County to discuss the agricultural issues important to the region as well as providing an update on agriculture policy in Washington," Rep. Guthrie said. "Farmers play a critical role in Kentucky's economy and, as a friend to farmers, I want to discuss how future agriculture policy affects them."

The forum is open to the public.
