FRANKFORT, Ky. — The only Kentucky company competing in the 2013 Martha Stewart American Made Awards contest needs your vote.

Hounds and Horses is a rapidly-growing Kentucky Proud company that makes all-natural dog and horse treats that are free of chemicals and preservatives.

“I’m pleased to see a Kentucky Proud company in this very popular national contest,” Agriculture Commissioner James Comer said. “I encourage all my fellow Kentuckians to log onto the contest’s website and support Hounds and Horses.”

Category voting runs through Sept. 22, followed by grand prize voting Sept. 23-30. Each email address can vote up to six times per day at www.marthastewart.com/americanmade/nominee/82751.

The Martha Stewart American Made Awards annually provide recognition to producers of handmade goods in the U.S. The Audience Choice Grand Prize Award winner will receive $10,000 to further their business and a trip for two to New York City to attend the American Made Workshop and to appear on MarthaStewart.com.

Hounds and Horses was founded in October 2012 by Kentucky natives Kathy Campbell; Kenni Baker Ward, a childhood friend of Campbell; and Karen Boden, Campbell’s sorority sister.

“Hounds and Horses is delighted to be a nominee for this prestigious award,” Campbell said. “As a small business, winning this award would enable us to further our goals for expansion around the country by allowing us to increase production levels of our treats.”
