LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Agriculture Commissioner James Comer encourages Kentucky State Fair visitors to drop by the Kentucky Proud Experience tent to enjoy and purchase fresh local foods and beverages. The tent is located on the West Lawn at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
“People today want to know their farmer, where their food comes from, and to buy and drink locally,” Commissioner Comer said. “What better place to showcase the best our state has to offer than at the Kentucky State Fair?”
Visitors may choose from among Kentucky Proud lamb burgers, bourbon-glazed chicken, hero sandwiches (with a vegetarian option), and Preferred Popcorn, made from 100 percent Kentucky-grown popcorn. Wash it down with Kentucky craft beers, Kentucky bourbon or Kentucky wine, or nonalcoholic offerings such as Ale-8-One. Farm-fresh menu options will be offered every day, and acoustic music and lawn games will be provided.
The Kentucky Proud Experience Tent is the result of a partnership of the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, the Kentucky State Fair Board, and Festival Cuisine.
“We wanted to bring some of the best parts of Kentucky to the state fair when it comes to local food and beverages this year,” Commissioner Comer said. “A lot of people have worked very long and very hard to make this happen, and we are excited to see it all come together.”
Daily events are scheduled throughout the fair, and live music will play every evening. For more information and event times, stop by the Kentucky Proud Experience tent or visit the Kentucky Proud Experience page on Facebook.
