LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky Proud foods prepared by some of Kentucky’s premier chefs will be paired with the world’s best bourbons at the second annual Bourbon Social Oct. 1-11 in Lexington.

“Kentucky’s native spirit and Kentucky Proud foods just naturally go together,” Agriculture Commissioner James Comer said. “They both have exploded in popularity, which is creating jobs and new farm income. We invite everyone to join us at The Bourbon Social for a celebration of the best foods and beverages Kentucky has to offer.”

Partial proceeds from ticket sales to The Bourbon Social will benefit Homegrown By Heroes, a Kentucky Proud brand that designates farm products produced by military veteran farmers. Commissioner Comer launched Homegrown By Heroes in January 2013, and the brand expanded nationally the following November.

Greatly expanded from its inaugural run in 2014, The Bourbon Social features 11 events, highlighted by the Main Event Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. at The Campbell House. The Main Event will offer food and bourbon tastings, live music, signature cocktails, book signings, and giveaways. The Cocktail Competition and People’s Choice winners will be announced at The Main Event.

Other events include a seminar series, a bourbon bar crawl, brunches, dinners, receptions, the Bourbon Camp, and the Beer, Bourbon and Bacon Garden Party Oct. 6 at Ashland, The Henry Clay Estate. Celebrity guest chef Edward Lee of Louisville and chefs Cole Arimes, Carrie Arps, Jeremy Ashby, Kate Horning, Alan Lamoureux, Jonathan Lundy, and Janey Thompson of Lexington and Mark Wombles of Midway will prepare Kentucky Proud dishes for certain events.

Ticket prices range from $25 for the Seminar Series Oct. 11 to $175 for the VIP Progressive Dinner Oct. 5, which is limited to 50 guests. A Weekend Bourbon Experience package, which includes many Bourbon Social events, is available for $330. The Bourbon Lovers Package ($600) includes all Bourbon Social events except the Bourbon Camp.
